Using a Drone for Filmmaking

There are always new technologies coming out and aspiring film makers often find ways of incorporating them into productions.  Drones are rapidly becoming one of those technologies due to their cost effectiveness and ability to get a shot that would otherwise be impossible on the same budget. You don’t need to get fancy motorized rigs to mount your camera on, you can simply use a drone to get a similar (and possible better) shot.

When choosing a drone be sure to take several factors  into consideration before purchasing one.  First, make sure the drone has a quality camera.  If money is no object then you won’t have any problems finding a drone with decent video quality.  But if you are working on a tight budget it can be difficult.  Be sure you check what resolution the video will record at to make sure it matches the rest of your production.  Be careful with the vibration that is visible on the recording.  A less expensive drone will not have the same dampening that a more expensive model will have so you could potentially see more vibration in the footage.
